Here are few of our photos from the Pumpkin Patch! Hopefully I’ll get some of our trip to Red Barn Farm up soon!

Enjoy!

Funny things.

October 28, 2009

Two-year-olds say the most wonderful stuff…and I’ve been remiss in not documenting more of it. So I’m going to try to record some of the more amusing or sweet pieces of our conversations on the blog.

A few days ago:

J: Why do I cough?

Me: You cough to get snot and germs out of your throat.

J: Where does snot live?

Me: In your nose.

J: And sometimes in my mouth.

And a sweet one:

Me: We’re a family, we take care of each other.

J: I take care of Baby Em. I take care of Mama.

Me: Who does Dada take care of?

J: You. And me. And Baby Em.

Me: So we all take care of each other, right?

J: We take care of each other now!

Me: That’s right, J.

J: We need love. We all need love now!

And another sweet one:

J: Jonah has kitty cats!

Me: Yup. How many do you have?

J:  I need one more. (Holding up his one little finger.)

Me: You do? You have so many.

J: Need live one!

Me: Is that what you’re going to ask Santa for for Christmas?

J: Yeah!

Then, under his breath, he says to himself, “Be brave. Be brave.”

A little story

October 28, 2009

Just had to share:

Yesterday, Jonah and I did some Halloween crafts. We made ghosts to suspend from our ceiling, monsters out of old cereal boxes and spiders out of painted egg cartons. He was in heaven.

While we were hard at work, Emery sat in her little chair watching us. At one point, while punching holes in the egg cartons, I asked J to get Emery a toy to play with. He dropped what he was doing and ran into the living room.

So excited to get back to his crafts, he nearly tripped running back into the kitchen. He set the toy down on her tray.

Then he started to walk away. After about two steps, he stopped. He turned back to her.

He leaned over and pulled the little string on her toy to make it sing for her. Then he kissed her on the head.

Now that’s a good big brother.

Sitting Up!

October 23, 2009

E is now sitting up! She’s sitting support for a few weeks now,

but suddenly this week — she got it. She can sit by herself

wonderfully. Will try to post photos soon!

Emery is four months!

October 12, 2009

We had Emery’s four-month well-child check last Friday. All is well, Dr. says she’s looking great. She’s a lil thing…just 12 pounds, 11 ounces and 24 inches long. That puts her in the 25th percentile for weight and about the 50th percentile for height. Her big brother was already 15 pounds at this point — which is odd because he was a much smaller baby at birth.

More photos…

It’s tough to find time to post much…but here are a smattering of recent photos.

Here’s E sleeping in our bed.

Tailgating!

September 17, 2009

We took the kids along with us when we tailgated with our college friends at the Northwest vs. Pitt State game. It was a challenge getting out the door, but once we were there everyone (including Emery, I think) had a great time. She even let a few people hold her, as long as she was facing out so she could see Matt or I.

Jonah is two!

August 25, 2009

Here are a few photos of the little guy.

In this one, he’s wearing his Super Hero cape! Grandma Lee got him a bunch of great dress-up stuff for his birthday. He LOVES being Super Jonah.

And in these pictures, he’s posing with all of his friends. He just recently started calling all of these animals his friends. He cares deeply about them…often scolding me if I happen to lean on one. Then he’ll pick them up, hug them and ask if they are okay.

He loves taking pictures and these came about because he was taking a few photos of his friends. Then he decided he wanted to be in a photo with all of them.

We asked him to smile:

Here is Emery cuddling with Dad.

Jonah wiped out after a busy day with Nana Lee, Mom and Emery. I try to never let him fall asleep in the car…because he had trouble napping later. But this time, I didn’t notice until it was too late.

Amy (our sister-in-law) and I celebrated our birthdays in July so earlier in the month we all got together for some food, drinks, swimming and cake.

Here are a few photos.

Luv you.

July 9, 2009

Yesterday, after I placed Emery in Jonah’s arms…he looked at her sweetly and said, “Big brother love you!”

It was the first time that he has volunteered, without prompting, that he loved someone. Made me melt.

He is so, so sweet to her. It is still pretty amazing to me. He harbors no resentment for the way she has changed his life. And it doesn’t seem to be contingent upon praise. Even when he is ‘alone’ in a room with her, he talks to her and holds her hand.

It’s adorable.

Jonah holding Emery

July 4, 2009

Jonah went to bed Saturday, June 6 and woke up Sunday morning with a new baby sister. Matt went in and said, “Jonah, we have a surprise for you. Your baby sister came while you were sleeping.”

He was so excited to see her! This is the a picture from the first time he held her. In this picture, he is counting her toes.

A trip to the beach

The week before Emery arrived, we took Jonah to the beach for the first time. He had a blast digging in the sand.
