Bath time!

January 24, 2008

Since Jonah’s birth, bathtime has pretty much always been with Mom or Dad. On days when Matt has worked all day, it’s a great way for them to spend a little one-on-one time together. It has become an integral part of our daily routine — we think it’s the main reason he is such a great night sleeper.

Here’s a glimpse of yesterday’s bathtime fun. Click on the photos to make them bigger.

Something to chew on…

January 21, 2008

Lately, it’s hard to find Jonah without his fingers or his thumb in his mouth.

I can stand!

January 20, 2008

Jonah loves to stand up outside his exersaucer. With a little help, he can even stand for a few moments without assistance. And I love this photo because of his bald head and cute little Dumbo ears.  standinweb.jpg

Cheers!

Once a day, we help Jonah practice drinking from a cup with a little bit of water. He really seems to enjoy the new experience. Most of it ends up running down his chin, but he’s getting better everyday.

Matt turns 25!

January 17, 2008

On Monday, Matt celebrated his 25th birthday for the second time. (Over the weekend he celebrated with friends.) Jonah and I were feeling a bit under the weather so we celebrated at home with Thai take-out and my invention: cherry cordial cake. It’s a bit messy in appearance, but that doesn’t really matter when it hits your stomach right?

Teething!!

January 15, 2008

At Jonah’s four-month checkup, the doctor said he could feel teeth budding underneath Baby J’s bottom gum. But he thought it would probably be a few more weeks or even months before they emerged. WRONG!

He was chewing on a toy today and suddenly I noticed a little blood on his chin. At first, I was worried he’d cut himself somehow…so I took him to the bathroom to check things out. Sure enough, a tiny sliver of a tooth can be felt on his bottom gum.

Matt said it’s pretty visible when you look down on it from behind his head. And we thought his fussiness and constant nursing had to do with the cold he is battling…looks like the teething has officially begun.

Four months old!

January 10, 2008

Okay, I know he’s been four months old since Dec. 24. But with the holidays we waited on his well-child check until things settled down a little bit.

So here are his stats:

Weight: 15 pounds, 10.5 ounces – 53rd percentile

Length: 25 1/2 inches – 58th percentile

Head Circumference: 17 1/2 inches – 90th percentile

After some extensive research we decided to wait on several of his vaccines — out of the six shots he was supposed to have today we only did two. So if you have whooping cough, diphtheria or polio stay away from our house. 🙂
